Mark Keinard. He is an exceptionally bright, thoughtful and dedicated student. Mark’s capstone thesis project explores ways to recognize the homeless as stakeholders and integral members of the design process through universal design strategies.

Landscape Architecture Foundation Olmsted Student Scholar: The Olmsted Scholars Program recognizes students with “exceptional leadership potential who are using ideas, influence, communication, service and leadership to advance sustainable design and foster human and societal benefits.”

Melissa Boffa was nominated by the Landscape Architecture faculty to receive this year’s Landscape Architecture Foundation sponsored Olmsted Scholar Award. What has really set Mel apart from he classmates is her commitment to community outreach and involvement. Mel is one of those rare student who really understands the full potential of landscape architecture and how she can be a strong community advocate for change through her design work.

ASLA Awards (American Society of Landscape Architects)
Each year the landscape architecture faculty nominate up to two graduating students to compete for Honor and/or Merit Awards. A jury of practicing professionals is selected to review the “life time” work of the two students. Award of Honor: Matthew Tanicello
Matt Tanicello is a very talented designer and outstanding student. But what sets him apart from many of his classmates is his inherent curiosity. He definitely goes the extra mile to understand the project site explore various design precedents, and research cutting-edge best management practices.

Award of Merit: Melissa Boffa

PA/DE Chapter of ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) Scholarship ($1000): 
Each year the PA/DE Chapter of ASLA offers a $1000 scholarship to each landscape architecture program within the state. Students are required to submit a portfolio and essay; a panel reviews all applicants and selects the winning entry.

Vanessa Miller received this year’s Scholarship to attend the national ASLA meeting next fall in Boston.
Vanessa has a 3.7 GPA and is an excellent design student. She is president of the student chapter of ASLA.
All of Vanessa’s professors speak very highly of her for her creativity and positive personality.
